Crusader kings 2 essential dlc

Apart from this i'm attracted by the Charlemagne DLC as i like that era would you suggest it? or it's better to play first with the standard game and then with the charlemagne scenario?. So for a player that have never played any of the Paradox titles you would suggest starting with an irish faction?. Paradox just likes nickel and diming people by releasing the game bit by bit forever. They could've included it in the original game.

I mean making pagan or nomadic characters playable is hardly some groundbreaking idea.

The DLC's aren't 'additional content.' They're fundamental parts of the game. Just top up with an expansion or two when needed as this game goes on sale quite often.Uh let's not kid ourselves. Sar1n is doing the right thing by just playing the base game first as a Christian ruler. So atleast the West African and Mongol packs I recomend. Infact the most essential dlc imho are the various portrait packs as in this game you will be staring at portraits the entire game. For example hellheaven1987 in his list is missing Sword of Islam as an essential dlc where as for me I consider it a must have and I haven't bothered with Way of Life because it's abit meh for my needs. So that can vary depending on the interests of the player.
